Meet Courtney
No. of years camping:
14 years of camping with my husband; but also did many camping trips throughout my childhood.
The first time I went camping was…
When I was 5 years old …
First thing you do once you’ve set up ‘camp’ ?
Pour (myself) a wine and go for a wander.
The last time I followed my wanderer I ended up…
At Nalyappa Point, on a quiet beach near Moonta (where) we spent the afternoon fishing. The kids played along the shore, we brewed coffee on the (camp) stove, and … fully embraced the quiet surroundings.
If I had to pick one crazy camping story it would be the time …
Karijini National Park (in) WA. (We camped) near one of the gorges, enduring 40-degree heat, no air conditioning, and endless red dirt. During the day, we hiked and then cooled off with a swim in one of the many watering holes before returning to our dusty campsite. By the time we left, our sheets were stained red, and the van was covered in red dust inside and out. Despite it all, we loved every minute of the experience!
The best thing about camping is…
The freedom it brings, watching our kids live their best life and early morning coffees watching the sunrise.
My must-have gear when hitting the road include…
Coffee Percolator, banana and peanut butter, uno cards.
The top three road trips on my wanderer’s bucket list are…
Kangaroo Island
Bay of Fires Tasmania – or Just Tassie in general
The Gibb River
To my fellow wanderers out there, you absolutely, definitely have to visit…
Quobba Coast WA – the Quobba blowholes are amazing!
